When Volvo AB acquired Mack Trucks in 2001, it bought one of the most recognizable brands in the world -- one that's associated with confidence, independence, and toughness.
Mack is the only North American heavy-duty truck manufacturer to deliver an integrated package: It produces its own engines, transmissions, and axles in addition to the truck.
Mack's Vision series is its most prominent highway vehicle, but Mack trucks dominate the refuse and construction markets, led by models like the Granite, introduced in 2001, and the square-nosed RB, DM/DMM, and RD. Mack also makes a line of medium-duty and natural gas-powered trucks, including the Freedom, a cab-over-engine model.
The company leases, sells, and services its trucks for use in more than 45 countries, and operates 600 service centres throughout North America.
